Danger Zone narrowed
Today, the balinese authorities have narrowed the radius of the danger zone around Mount Agung's crater from 8-10 kilometers to 6 kilometers. The volcano alert is still on the highest level inside the danger zone, as the volcano continues to emit ash and the seismic activity remains high. Due to the narrowing of the danger zone some people who have been forced to linger in evacuation camps for months can now return to their homes and resume their normal lives. The many people who live inside the 6-km radius, however, must stay in the camps, which are only partly and in general insufficiently provided with food from the governement. Their situation would be life threatening by now, were it not for the hundreds of volunteers who distribute food and hygienic products in the camps every day.
